Treatment strategies for Eczema, Dermatitis and dry skin

The goals of self-treatment of dermatitis

 1. to stop the itch–scratch cycle,
 2. to maintain skin hydration and barrier function,
 3. to avoid or minimize factors that trigger symptoms or aggravate the disorder, and
 4. to prevent secondary infections.

Non-pharmacological measures

✓ Using cotton sheets and clothing, as opposed to wool or other fabrics, which can irritate skin;
✓ Rinsing new sheets and clothing with unscented or chemical-free laundry detergent;
✓ Bathing can provide hydration and remove bacteria.
