        The size of the injury (Self-treatment is generally for small, clean wounds, typically less
        than 3 inch in diameter)

       Exclusion for Self-Treatment

Sunburns                                    Minor Burns & Wounds

        ✓ Large area of blistering          ✓ Chemical and electric caused burns
        ✓ Fever                             ✓ Burns of Grade 2 intermediate
        ✓ Extreme pain                      thickness, grade 3 & 4
        ✓ Headache or confusion
        ✓ Lightheadeness or vision changes  ✓ Signs of infection
        ✓ Severe swelling                   ✓ Patients with pre-existing medical
        ✓ Signs of infection such as:       history that can delay or complicate
                                            healing process as diabetes
             Spreading of redness area
                                            ✓ Chronic wounds
Open blisters draining pus
                                            ✓ Wound secondary to animal bite or
                                            human bite

                                            ✓ Site of injury: genitals, face
                                            ✓ Injuries cover Large area (> 3 in
                                            diameter)

                                            ✓ Skin injury that worsen or does not
                                            show improvement after 7 days

Pharmacy Care & Treatment

The Treatment goals in treating acute, minor skin injuries are:

     1. To promote healing by protecting the burn or wound from infection & further
        trauma

     2. To minimize scarring
     3. To relieve symptoms
