1- The endoperoxide bridge is cleaved to generate highly
reactive free radicals that alkylate cellular proteins, also it
generates ROS (reactive O species), superoxide, results incell
death.
Artemisinin and its derivatives are promising anticancer agents.
They have been used in clinical trial studies withoutserious
adverse effects.
2- They inhibit the growth and proliferation of cells, through an
anti-angiogenic effect (inhibit the growth of new blood vessels),
3- additionally, artemisinin is not transported with P-glycoprotein so
it is not involved in multidrug resistance andsevere adverse
effects
