• Solvent: basic solvents such as DMF, butylamine or
ethylenediamine are used. Other solvents such as
methanol or different aprotic solvents are also used in
some cases.

• General reaction: reaction between analyte and titrant:
HA + CH3O– ⎯→ A– + CH3OH

• Detection of end point:
Thymol blue: color change yellow to blue.
Azo violet: color change yellow to violet.
