Non-Aqueous Titration of Basic Substances

• Analyte: Very weak basic substances including aliphatic and
    aromatic amines (such as adrenaline), alkaloids (such as atropine ,
    quinine , nicotine , caffeine , codeine and cocaine) and alkali salts
    of weak acids (such as sodium benzoate , sodium salicylate ,
    diclofenac sodium and saccharin sodium).

• Solvent: Glacial acetic acid. Acetic anhydride is added to remove any
    water that may be present in the medium.
