Determination of acidic drugs
• Examples for pharmaceutical drugs that can be titrated using direct
acid-base titrations: Ketoprofen , Ibuprofen , Naproxen , Furosemide ,
Fusidic acid , Nicotinic acid , Salicylic acid , Sorbic acid, Valproic acid.
• They are dissolved in ethanol or methanol and titrated with standard 0.1
M NaOH using phenolphthalein as indicator. Other indicators such as
phenol red and bromothymol blue can be used.
