        Adverse effects & contraindications

     • Possible aspiration into the lungs, lipid pneunmonitis
        (lipoid pneumonia)

     • Cause anal seepage, which results in itching and
        perianal discomfort

     • Decrease absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (D, A, E
        and K),

     • Must be avoided in pregnants.& elderly & pediatric
     • Emollient as docusate may increase their systemic

        absorption leading to hepatotoxicity
     • Mineral oils shouldn't be given to children <6years.
