Diarrhea during pregnancy could also occur
due to the following causes :
▪ Regular laxative intake
▪ Hormonal changes: urges diarrhea
▪ Dietary changes : high fiber diet.
▪ Cravings and eating indigestible foods
▪ Excessive water intake
▪ Diarrhea during late pregnancy could be an indication that
labor is about to ensue

Is it dangerous for the baby?
- Diarrhea during pregnancy should not be taken
lightly if it persists beyond two days
- Persistent and severe diarrhea may lead to :
√ Dehydration: (This can slow down blood flow to
Mother and the placenta)
√ Weight loss
√ Malnutrition
It is important to restore the fluids and the electrolyte
balance of the body when suffering from diarrhea
during pregnancy
