 Anti-infective agents

• Nifuroxazide (Antinal®)

• Metronidazole (flagyl®) is a nitroimidazole antibiotic for
 anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. (POM)

• Antibacterials used for prophylaxis and treatment of
 traveler's diarrhea

   • Include Azithromycin, fluoroquinolones and rifaximin.

   • Sulfonamides, neomycin, doxycycline, tetracycline and TMP-SMX
     are no longer recommended due to world-wide drug resistance.

     ANTINAL®

     Active constituent : Nifuroxazide

     Antinal has a wide bactericidal activity against gram +ve
      and gram -ve bacteria: staph , campylobacter , shigella
      , salmonella , E. coli , and Yesinia

     - it is an intestinal anti-infectious agent

     - For acute infectious diarrhea even in pregnancy or in
      neonates.(safe, not absorbed)

     - It does not destroy the normal intestinal flora and does
      not upset the intestinal bacterial equilibrium.

     - It has never been found to induce transferable bacterial
      resistance
