Film-Forming Polymers (Summary):

Type Example Solubility Use

Cellulose derivatives HPMC, HPC, EC Water/organic Film former

Methacrylate polymers Eudragit E, L, S pH-dependent Enteric or SR

Vinyl polymers PVP, PVAc Water/ethanol Adhesion

Acrylic dispersions Kollicoat SR 30D Aqueous SR coating

Plasticizers: PEG 400, PEG 6000, triethyl citrate, castor oil, propylene glycol.
Used 1–30 % w/w of polymer to improve film flexibility.
