Frangula Powder :

It is yellowish-brown in colour characterized by :
1- Fragments of purplish cork cells.
2- Fragments of groups of lignified phloem fibres, accompanied by

   crystal sheath containing calcium oxalate prisms.
3- Absence of sclereids.
4- Numerous cluster-crystals of calcium oxalate.

                            Powdered Frangula bark

Constituents :

- Anthraquinone glycoside glucofrangulin which by hydrolysis give
frangulin.
-The bark also contains free frangula-emodin
.
