7- Fragments of the wall of ovary showing numerous

Compositous glandular hairs prismatic crystals of calcium

oxalate and schizogenous ducts with brown secretion.

8- Fragments of lignified, large, irregular moderately thick

walled sclereids from the receptacle.

Constituents:

Pyrethrum owes its insecticidal properties to esters called

pyrethrins. Pyrathin I, jasmolin I and cinerin I are esters of

chrysanthemic acid, while pyrethrin II, jasmolin II and cinerin II are

esters of pyrethric acid. The alcohol component of the pyrethrins is

the keto-alcohol pyrethrolone and of cinerins is the keto alcohol

cinerolone.

The pyrethrin content of the florets is located mainly in the
secretion present in the schizogenous ducts of the ovary wall and in
the glandular hairs.
