Column Packings in HPLC
❑ Packings for HPLC columns are very fine with particle size 3-10
µm; these can be classified according to the following criteria:
➢ Rigid solids or gels.
➢ Spherical or irregular.
➢ Porous or superficially porous.
➢ End-capped packings or not.
❑ The HPLC column is usually 163
packed with small adsorbent
particles, preferably spherical in
shape.
