Ophthalmic DD: quality control testing
• Sterility testing
• Foreign and particulate matter
➢ All ophthalmic solutions should be inspected for the presence of
observable foreign and particulate matter.
➢ Ophthalmic solutions should be essentially free from particles that
can be observed on visual inspection (visible particulates).
➢ Subvisible particulates (10, 25 & 50 µm) should be detected using
light obscuration and microscopic procedures for the
determination, identical to those for injections
