             Correlation and Regression

Correlation describes the strength of a linear relationship between two
  variables

Linear means “straight line”

Regression tells us how to draw the straight line described by the

correlation slope

Variable (dependant) y = a + bx Variable (independant)

                                                                  intercept

  Regression Analyses

 Regression: technique concerned with predicting some variables by
    knowing others
Serial dilution of stds  calibration curve, r  sample analysis

 The process of predicting variable x using variable y

   Simple Linear Regression Model

 Only one independent variable, x
 Relationship between x and y is described by a linear function
 Changes in y are assumed to be caused by changes in x (line y on x)
