Spectrofluorimetry

     Advantages of Fluorometric Analysis

The most attractive features of fluorometry are:
• Sensitivity: concentrations down to 0.001 – 0.1 ppm can be

    measured.
• Selectivity: Not all absorbing compounds show fluorescence. This

advantage permits analysis of a fluorescent analyte in complex
    mixture of other non-fluorescent compounds.

                                                                                                     9

          Factors affecting fluorescence

Factors affecting the quantum yield or the ability of the compound to
show fluorescence are:

      1- Temperature
      2- Solvent (polarity, viscosity, pH)
3- Chemical structure of the compound
