Lesson 6: What Does “Waheguru” Mean?
Our Gurus taught us that there is One God. Sikhs call
God, Waheguru. Waheguru has made the whole
universe. The earth, the sun, the stars, the sky, the
air, the water, the beautiful flowers and all we see or
hear or touch are made by Waheguru.
Do you know what else Waheguru made? Waheguru
made you. Waheguru made your family. Waheguru
made your friends. Waheguru made your teachers.
Waheguru made your neighbors. Waheguru also made
all the people you will ever see in your life. So no
matter what color, what size or what shape people are,
they are all made by Waheguru. We may not like some
people, but we must not hate them or hurt them.
Waheguru also made all the animals- the ants, the
alligators, the dinosaurs and the zebra- every animal.
Waheguru also made all the plants, the flowers, the
grass and the trees. Our Gurus taught us to respect
the creation of Waheguru by not hurting anyone.
