Lesson 11: What is the Sikh Jaikara?
A Jaikara is a slogan that a group of people say out
loud together.
The Sikhs also have a Jaikara. They raise their fists,
speak loudly during celebrations and say “Bolay So
Nihaal! Sat Sri Akaal!”
By saying the Jaikara they give 2 kinds of information:
1. I like what is being said.
2. It is true what is being said.
When the group of Sikhs hears
something they like, then they
start the Jaikara like this:
One person says in a loud voice: “Bole So Nihal”
Everyone else follows with: “Sat Sri Akaal”.
It means everyone who says “Sat Sri Akaal” is blessed.
Color the Jaikara.
