Lesson 15: What are Gurdwara Etiquettes?
You are reading this book because you go to a Khalsa
School to learn Punjabi and Gurmat. You go there once
a week. When you go to a Gurdwara, what all do you
see? What all do you do? Here are a few Gurdwara
etiquettes you should follow. Etiquettes are good
manners. Every place we go to has proper manners. We
even have etiquettes at home.
Before you enter the Gurdwara Sahib main hall, you
need to do a few things:
1. Remove shoes.
2. Wash your hands because you might have touched
your shoes.
3. If your feet are dirty, then you should wash your
feet also. We should have clean feet to keep the
carpets clean.
4. Cover your head with a chunni or scarf if you don’t
have one already. We always cover our head in
Gurdwara. This is a way to show respect.
5. Take some money with you to offer to Gurdwara if
your family can afford it.
