Lesson 10: Ajooni AjUnI
According Gurbani, our soul can be born into many different life forms. These
life forms are called “Joon”. According to Gurbani there are 8.4 million life
forms.
Human life form is considered to be the best as we have the capability to think
and choose our actions. Only thing better than human form would be that we
merge with Waheguru and we will not be born and die again. This state without
birth and death is called “Ajooni”.
Gurbani teaches us that the human life is our only opportunity to become
“Ajooni” and merge with Waheguru. Only in this joon, we can get out of the cycle
of birth and death. But we must live a good life and keep Waheguru in our hearts.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji says that Waheguru is Ajooni and is beyond the cycles of
birth and death.
When one of our relatives passes away, we do Ardas to Waheguru that he/she
should find place in Waheguru’s feet and become Ajooni.
We live our lives each day and pass through each stage of life without ever
thinking about it. A human is born as a baby who grows into a toddler, then a
child, then a teenager, a young adult, an adult and finally an old person. We learn
to do different things in each stage. We learned to sit, crawl, and walk. We
learned to ride the bike and skates. We go to school and learn to read and write.
When we grow up, we learn to do a job. Any day that passes will not return. We
must make use of each day to learn something new and do something nice and to
be better than yesterday.
Every day, we should be aware that we have an important opportunity to become
Ajooni. We must live our life with gratitude. We should try to feel the presence
of Waheguru around us. Then there will be no fear, no pain and no hurt and that
is a state of bliss- AnMd. In Gurbani, this stage is called “Jivan-Mukat” jIvn-
mukq. We must love Waheguru if we want to be with Waheguru and Jeevan
Mukat.
