"Participating in the Hemkunt competitions has played a big role in making
me who I am today. I not only learned so much about our Sikh culture and
history, I also learned the art of effective public speaking, which has
helped me so much. Through these competitions, I gained confidence in
expressing my thoughts and ideas, which then gave me confidence to join
my school's student council. Moreover, the rigorous preparation that I
would do taught me discipline and the importance of hard work. Hemkunt
has enriched my personal and academic life, shaping me into a more
confident, knowledgeable, and articulate person with skills and experiences that will benefit me
throughout my life." Warm Regards, Mannat Kaur

My son Gurpreet Singh and daughter Enderpreet Kaur,
both participated in the Hemkunt Foundation speech
competition in the 1990s. We had the pleasure of
going to the international competitions on two
occasions which were wonderful experiences as we
got to meet such great speakers from around the
country.
The Hemkunt Speech competition taught my children
not only about Sikhi, but also gave them the skills to
be excellent public speakers and to thrive
professionally. I’ve also had the pleasure of
coaching, my Khalsa School students over the past
several years for the competition.
This experience has given me so much joy because
every year all my students that have participated in
the competition have come back and expressed how
grateful they were to have been a part of such
amazing initiative.
