Citizen's The Response
“Photographs remember the little things long after you we have forgotten everything”
Engagement Aaron Siskind.
Following each trip that I was involved in, I put together a short video with highlights for
Citizens Post-RY
the week. About a month following the trip everyone came together, either in person or
Engagement remotely and we watched the highlights together. It brought back all the experiences
and memories and encouraged people to do it all again. Everyone received a copy and
Strategies & Ideas
was encouraged to share on social media and tag the organization as a way to recruit
new participants and stay top of mind to the current ones.
I am a huge supporter of social media as it not only engages the current citizen but the
tags, likes and shares with spread to their friends and friends of friends. As of this writing,
there are 1 billion people on Instagram alone. Two years ago on a trip to Lake Atitlan,
Guatemala I was leading a group of eighteen up to the village of Chuk Muk. We had
advanced permission to tag everyone in the posts. I did a live feed while we were
enroute carrying food, supplies and chickens.
The feed got over 8,000 views, many shares and resulted in additional donations and
organizational page likes for Mayan Families. You can see all this footage at
www.livingongiving.org.
