Sustainability
Matters
918 Coffee Co.
Their core ethic has evolved to focus on best practice for the
benefit of the environment but of course as a business, profit
matters too. In order to be a truly sustainable force for good and
to continue to make a difference, they need to continue to grow
and so are actively seeking new clients to work with all the time to
ensure they can keep contributing to the circular economy.
One such example of this type of reciprocal relationship is
rewarding one of their growers in Uganda with equipment to help
improve crop yield and quality - that’s a gift that will keep on It should be said that their coffee is
giving as opposed to simply paying a few cents more for the rather special too - Justin reflects that
coffee for a single season. Sustainability takes on many different getting people to change their coffee
forms throughout the supply chain as Justin demonstrates. supply is difficult as we are all creatures
of habit and so by offering to make it as
easy as possible for people to make the
switch without it upsetting their routines
is the best way forward.
Raising awareness of their mission to
provide great coffee, reduce waste and
provide a greener future all at the same
time is their primary focus, and engaging
with customers on this level is key.
Often acting on behalf of their customers
to help them share their story socially,
develop carbon avoidance and
reforestation schemes on their behalf,
collecting their coffee waste as well as
supplying a whole range of other eco
friendly consumable and disposable
products.
They lead by example and make ‘doing
the right thing’ easy and affordable for all
their customers.
Justin is driven that’s clear, and in a
moment of beautiful clarity he says, “I just MAY/JUNE. 2023 | ISSUE 30
want a cleaner world for my children to
live in”. We’ll drink a cup of your
deliciously responsible coffee to that!
