My Journey to MCh Gynecologic Oncology at AIIMS, New Delhi

Securing Rank 1 in MCh Gynecologic Oncology and
earning a place at the prestigious All India Institute of Dr. Shagun Kapoor
Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi is a milestone I had
long dreamed of. Looking back, the journey was filled with
moments of hard work, self-belief, and above all, the
constant support of my family and the larger community
that stood like a pillar behind me—the Central Reserve women battling cancer—was a calling I felt deeply

was intense and demanding. There were countless hours
of studying, revising, and practicing mock tests. But
through it all, I was sustained by the motivation that this
was not just my dream, but a collective one shared by
everyone who had supported me.
One of the most defining moments during this journey was
delivering a talk on Cervical Cancer Awareness at GC CRPF
Guwahati. Standing in front of the very community that
had nurtured me and educating them about a preventable,
yet life-threatening disease reinforced why I had chosen
this path. It reminded me that medicine is not just about
treating illness but about empowering people with

Being the child of a CRPF officer comes with its unique
challenges and blessings. My father’s dedication to the
nation meant long hours, postings in remote and some-
times volatile regions, and often being away during
important milestones. Yet, at no point did I ever feel alone.
The CRPF community, where every officer, “uncle” and
“aunty,” treated me as their own, became my extended
joint family.
