Microfilaria:
- 300 x10 µ.
- Smooth, graceful body curves.
- Sheathed, the sheath is loose and
redundant.
- Bluntly rounded anterior end.
- Tapering posterior end and free of
nuclei.
Definitive host - Man.
intermediate hosts - Females of species Culex, Anopheles and Aedes
mosquitoes.
Reservoir host - No reservoir host
Infective stage - filariform larvae in the mouth of infected
mosquitoes
Mode of infection - Inoculation, bite of mosquito.
Diagnostic stage - Microfilaria.
Site of localization - Lymph vessels and lymph glands.
Diagnosis
❑ Clinically from repeated lymphadenitis and lymphaginitis as well as
elephantiasis.
