Fungi

Fungi are eukaryotic organisms classified within the domain Eukarya, and

are categorized within the kingdom Fungi

Classification based on morphology
1-Yeasts

• Unicellular organisms

2- Molds

• Multicellular, filamentous organisms such as rusts

3- Fleshy fungi

Fleshy fungi are those forming macroscopic fruiting bodies. Such as

multicellular mushrooms and puffballs

Characteristics of fungi

1- Eukaryotic

• Eukaryotes

• Non-photosynthetic (Lack of chlorophyll)

• Nonmotile

• Heterotrophic

• Store food energy as glycogen
