Syllables
Parent’s Guide
A syllable is a word part with one vowel sound. Some
words have more than one syllable. There is a syllable rule
that is called “consonant + le”.
The Turtle Rule
How do you know where to split the word/syllable?
When a word has a “consonant + le”, the consonant before
the “le” always stays with the “le”. So, split the word before
the consonant + le.
Example:
turtle = tur • tle tremble = trem • ble
Divide the following words into syllables.

2) juggle ______ • ______
3) gentle ______ • ______
