Unit (5) – Phonics

                                                  Syllables

                                                     Parent’s Guide

A syllable is a word part with one vowel sound. Some

words have more than one syllable. There is a syllable rule

that is called “consonant + le”.

                                                     The Turtle Rule

How do you know where to split the word/syllable?

When a word has a “consonant + le”, the consonant before

the “le” always stays with the “le”. So, split the word before
                   the consonant + le.

                   Example:

turtle = tur • tle tremble = trem • ble
