and the Hereafter. The most im por tant pre text and sup posed ev i dence that ma te ri al ists put for ward
to re fute be lief in the ex is tence of Allah is the ex is tence of mat ter. However, ev ery thing de scribed
through out the course of this book re in for ces the sci en tif i cal ly prov en fact that mat ter, ex ist ing ex ter -
nal ly, is for us mere ly a copy. All this does away with great est ev i dence at ma te ri al ism’s dis pos al and
man i fest ly elim i nates it.
That is why the fun da men tal truth about mat ter is so alarm ing to ma te ri al ists.
In the past, mat ter’s es sen tial na ture was a con cept recog nized and open ly ex pressed by on ly a
few think ers and sci en tists. But it is now an ir ref u ta ble truth made this cer tain for the first time. Now
raised with cer tain sci en tif ic proof, this sub ject is not some thing that even ma te ri al ists can de ny. In
the light of the facts re vealed by quan tum phys ics, mat ter—ma te ri al ists’ sole foun da tion—has been
shown to be an il lu sion with in the per cep tu al world cre at ed for man by Allah. What was for mer ly im -
ag ined to be the con crete ba sis of our en tire ex is tence, has sud den ly be come an ab stract con cept. Ma-
terialists’ great est ev i dence, which they thought they could em ploy in the most pow er ful man ner aga-
inst be lief in Creation, sud den ly van ished in the light of these sci en tif ic dis cov er ies.
It was not just at oms and mol e cu les that were found to be il lu so ry en ti ties. So were hous es, cars,
gi ant ships, the sky, moun tains, plan ets, space and even the hu man body it self.
The claim re gard ing mat ter, which ma te ri al ists had adopt ed as their own deity (Surely Allah is
beyond that), had fi nal ly come to an end.
Materialism was left with no ev i dence to sup port it. The ex is tence of mat ter, from which ma te ri -
al ists drew strength and in which they placed their trust in their strug gle against re li gion, has now
be come in ex pli ca ble.
This is a glo ri ous snare that Allah has laid for the de niers. The facts showed those who im ag ined
that they could op pose Him that the false idols they so trust ed as be ing un shake a ble were all il lu sions.
The claims of ma te ri al ism, which they had im ag ined to be so pow er ful, are now open ly con tra dict ed
by the eter nal might and pow er of Allah. No doubt that all the snares that they them selves have set
are now doomed to fail.
They plot ted and Allah plot ted. But Allah is the best of plot ters. (Qur’an, 3:54)
Sooner or lat er ma te ri al ists, who have lost all their foun da tions in the face of His glo ri ous or der,
must face the life of the Hereafter that they once de nied. And like all oth ers, they will have to ac count
for them selves in the Presence of Allah. In the Hereafter, any who adopt ed what is vis i ble and tan gi -
ble in the life of this world will re al ize that they have awak en ed from a dream and that they ex pend -
ed all their ef forts for the sake of a dream. Yet the re gret they feel in the Hereafter will be one from
which there is no es cape.
Allah tells us in the Qur’an that:
Arguing in it with one an oth er, they will say, “By Allah, we were plain ly mis guid ed when we equat ed you
[the liars] with the Lord of all the worlds. It was on ly the evil do ers who mis guid ed us, and now we have
no one to in ter cede for us; we do not have a sin gle loy al friend. If on ly we could have an oth er chance, then
we would be among the be liev er!” There is cer tain ly a sign in that, yet most of them are not be liev ers.
(Qur’an, 26:96-103)
So long as he re mains in this world, a per son still has the op por tu ni ty to see the truth and to turn
to Allah. Having be lieved in ma te ri al ism all on e’s life does not mean that one must per sist in that er -
ror un til death. Espousing a phi los o phy that has been out worn, and ex pend ing on e’s life in its pur -
suit is not be hav ior in which any ra tion al per son of good con science can en gage. The im por tant thing
is not to per sist in this aft er see ing the truth and to grasp that truth, which in any case be comes crys -
tal clear with death.
