Pleasant Words from the Gospel
produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your en-
durance inspired by hope in our Lord... (1 Thessalonians, 1:2-3)
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and
thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in au-
thority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness
and holiness. (1 Timothy, 2:1-23)
I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without
anger or disputing. (1 Timothy, 2:8)
For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if
it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the
word of God and prayer. (1 Timothy, 4:4-5)
The widow who is really in need and left all alone puts her hope in
God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help.
But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives.
(1 Timothy, 5:5-6)
I thank God, Whom I serve, as my forefathers did, with a clear con-
science, as night and day I constantly remember you in my
prayers. (2 Timothy, 1:3)
... I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, be-
cause I hear about your faith in... Jesus [as God's prophet] and your
love for all the saints [who devote themselves to God]. I pray that
you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full
understanding of every good thing... (Philemon, 1:4-6)
