his re venge on us …" At this Abu Jahl said: "There is no al ter na -
tive to kill ing Muhammad." 44
Even though the Meccan pol y the ists had ev ery thing that
they need ed to im ple ment their plots, they were still un suc cess -
ful; Allah pro tect ed our bless ed Prophet (saas). The had iths in -
form us that armed strong young men had been as sem bled
from all the tribes to kill him; many oth er vol un teers came to

kill him with swords. It is a great mir a cle that our Prophet
(saas) was not killed and his en e mies' traps were al ways foiled.
Our brave and he ro ic Prophet (saas) fought in open bat tle
and per son al ly faced with the en e my many times. Although he
fought in the front ranks, he was not killed and, by a mir a cle of
Allah, re turned from bat tle un harmed. Despite all the dan gers
he faced, he nev er the less ful filled his call ing.

Ibn Hanbal, at-Tabarani, and Abu Nu`aym re late that:
I saw the Prophet (saas). A man was brought be fore him. "This man
want ed to kill you," they said. At this, the Prophet said: "Do not
fear. Do not fear. Even if you had wished, Allah would not have let
you troub le me." 45
Knowing that he was un der Allah's pro tec tion on the bat -
tle field, our Prophet (saas) put him self com plete ly in His hands
and thus served as an ex am ple to all be liev ers. Fearing no one
but Allah, he was a cour a geous and pa tient man who had an

ex cel lent mor al char ac ter. His read i ness for self-sac ri fice, es pe -
cial ly when he got up ear ly and left the house to place the be -
liev ers in the best lo ca tions for a com ing bat tle, made him a fine
ex am ple for all peo ple:
Remember when you left your fam i ly ear ly in the day to
po si tion the be liev ers in their bat tle sta tions. Allah is All-
Hearing, All-Knowing. (Surah Al 'Imran: 121)
