The Miracles of our Prophet (saas)






                                  Umar's (ra) mar tyr dom

                     Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet (saas) once climbed
                 Uhud moun tain with Abu Bakr, 'Um ar, and 'Uth man. The
                 moun tain shook. The Prophet said (to the moun tain):
                     "Be firm, Uhud! For on you there are no more than a Prophet, a
                     Siddiq, two mar tyrs."  92

                     The books of the Sunnah tell us that one day the Prophet (saas) was
                     sit ting at the well of `Aris, with Abu Musa al-Ash`ari act ing as his
                     gate keep er. Abu Bakr al-Siddiq came and asked per mis sion to see
                     him, and the Messenger (saas) said: "Let him in, and give him the
                     glad tid ings of Paradise." Then `Umar came, and he said: "Let him
                     in, and give him the glad tid ings of Paradise." Then `Uthman came,
                     and he said: "Let him in, and give him the glad tid ings of Paradise
                     be cause of an af flic tion that will be fall him." (Reported by al-
                     Bukhari, Muslim, and al-Tirmidhi, Jami` al-Usul, 8/562, no. 6372.)



                                 Uthman's (ra) mar tyr dom

                     Ibn 'A di and Ibn 'As a kir nar rat ed from Anas, who said:
                 "The Messenger of Allah said: "O Uthman, you will be giv en
                 the cal i phate aft er me, but the hyp o crites will want you to re -
                 nounce it. Do not re nounce, it but fast on that day so that you
                 break your fast with me."  93
                     Al-Tabarani and al-Bayhaqi nar rat ed from Zayd ibn

                 Arqam, who said: The Prophet (saas) sent me out, say ing: "Go
                 and see Abu Bakr. You will find him sit ting in side his house
                 wrapped up in his cloak with his legs drawn up. Give him the
                 glad tid ings of the Garden. Then go to the moun tain un til you
                  find 'Um ar rid ing a don key and his tall frame loom ing in the
                      dis tance. Give him the glad tid ings of the Garden.
