               faith, sin cer i ty, and trust in Him, he was an ex am ple to all
               Muslims. Through these mir a cles, he strength ened and en cour -
               aged the be liev ers.


                  Our Prophet (saas) pre dict ed his own death



                    Another of our bless ed Prophet's (saas) mir a cles was that
               all of his pre dic tions came true (or will come true) in time. One
               of the events he pre dict ed was his own death.
                    The Messenger of Allah (saas) looked at us and said: "You sug gest
                    that I shall be the last to die. Be warned, I shall die be fore all of you!
                    You will die aft er me."  85

                    Narrated 'Uq bah ibn 'Am ir (ra):
                    The Prophet went out and of fered the fu ner al prayer for the mar tyrs
                    of the (bat tle of) Uhud. He then as cend ed the min bar and said: "I
                    will pre cede you (in death), and I am a wit ness against you, and –
                    by Allah! – I am at this mo ment gaz ing up on my pond. I have been
                    giv en the keys of the treas ur ies of Earth" – or "the treas ur ies of
                    Earth" – "and – by Allah! – I do not fear that you will be come ido -
                    la ters aft er me, but I fear that you will com pete for them [the treas -
                    ur ies]."  86

                    In an oth er hadith, our Prophet (saas) re veals that he is go -
               ing to die:
                    Abu Muwyahibah nar rat ed: The Messenger of Allah called for me
                    in the mid dle of the night and said to me: "O Abu Muwayhibah, I
                    have been or dered to pray for for give ness for the peo ple of Baqi'
                    [grave yard], so come with me." So I went with him. When he stood
                    among them, he said: "Peace be up on you, O dwell ers of the graves.
                    May the sit u a tion you are in be more com fort a ble than the sit u a tion
                    the peo ple are in, for trib u la tions have ap proached like dark
                       patch es of night, one fol low ing an oth er, and each one is
