worse than the one be fore it." Then he drew near to me and said:
"O Abu Muwayhibah, I have been giv en the keys to the treas ures of
the world and to last ing life in it, fol lowed by the Garden. I was giv -
en a choice be tween this and the meet ing with my Lord and the
Garden, so I chose the meet ing with my Lord." 87
Our Prophet (saas) gave many de tails about his death, and
this great ly in creased and deep ened the be liev ers' faith. For ex -
am ple:
I was born on a Monday. The rev e la tion be gan on a Monday. I mi -
grat ed [to Madinah] on a Monday, and shall die on a Monday. 88

Ibn Hanbal and al-Bayhaqi re late from Ibn Abbas (ra):
Ibn Abbas nar rat ed: "The Prophet (saas) was born on a Monday,
be came a proph et on a Monday, mi grat ed from Mecca on a Monday,
and en tered Madinah on a Monday. Mecca was opened [to Islam]
on a Monday, and he died on a Monday." 89

In some of the had iths, he re vealed where he would die:
The place to which I mi grat ed and where I shall lie – where I shall
be bur ied when I die – is Madinah. Madinah is where I em i grat ed.

Our Prophet (saas) an nounced
the Companion's mar tyr dom

As a mir a cle from Allah, our Prophet (saas) an nounced
when his Companions would die long be fore they did so. In
these had iths, he said that some would be mar tyr ed and re -
vealed where they would die. Those Muslims who saw these
pre dic tions ful filled saw the out come as joy ous. Every one of
these had iths is a mir a cle that Allah grant ed to our Prophet
(saas), whom He chose and ex alt ed above all worlds:
