This semi-3D plafond is designed with
45 one side flat for framing purposes.
TYING INSTRUCTIONS
1. For each corner, tie a single unit comprising a
cloverleaf knot, a 3D button knot (with a clover-
leaf knot on the left, right and top parts of the
knot), a double connection knot, a cloverleaf
knot and a double connection knot respectively.
2.The major knot here is the hui ling knot with
twelve ear loops on each side. Then, on each side
of the hui ling knot, tie in this order: For the first
outer loop, a cloverleaf knot, and on the second
outer loop, a cloverleaf knot tied together with
the outer loop from the cloverleaf knot on the
abovementioned 3D button knot. Lengthen the
fourth outer loop and tie a cloverleaf knot with
two outer loops, together with the outer loop
from the inner circle round brocade knot. Then
the sixth outer loop, a cloverleaf knot. Lengthen
the eighth outer loop and tie a cloverleaf knot
with two outer loops, together with the outer
loop from the inner circle round brocade knot.
Tie outer loop ten together with the outer loop
from the button knot into a cloverleaf knot with
two outer loops followed by a cloverleaf knot.
3.There are nine ear loops on each inner side on
this hui ling knot.Tie a cloverleaf knot on each
corner. Lengthen the third and seventh ear loops
on each side in preparation for the knotting of
the round brocade knot in the innermost circle.
4.Together with the round brocade knot in the
innermost circle, tie each of the two reserved
loops on each inner side of the hui ling knot into
two ear loops so that the outer loop in the center
and that on the outer circle are tied into a clover-
leaf knot with two outer loops.
This elegant design is formed using a
46 modified pan chang knot to allow ade-
quate space to accommodate all incoming cords
to the center.
TYING INSTRUCTIONS
1.Tie a modified pan chang knot on the outside.
Tie a lingzhi knot in each of the slots, but tighten
its outer loops as small as possible.
2. Knot inwards from each corner, with the knots
tied in this order: a shiftweave pan chang knot
with a 90-degree shift, a cloverleaf knot, four
cloverleaf knots with their two outer loops shared.
Leave a long enough outer loop to tie the central
round brocade knot.
3. Leave an outer loop in the center of the inner
side of the slot, but remember to tie a cloverleaf
knot first.
4.When knotting the last central outer loop, tie
the first three outer loops from each corner and
the center of each side into the round brocade
knot in the inner circle.Wrap every second ear
loop.
