Pan Chang Knot with Reduced Cords
This modified pan chang knot has three ear loops on each side.
TYING INSTRUCTIONS
Steps 1–3. Employing the knotting technique of the pan chang knot, use the left cord
end to arrange ear loops 1, 2 and 3 in straight lines. Steps 4–6. Use the left cord end
to knot ear loops 4, 5 and 6 using the wrapping technique. Steps 7–11. For the last
side, use the left cord to knot ear loops 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 by the pull one, wrap one
technique.
HINTS
• If you want to tie a reduced cord pan chang knot into an irregular shape, arrange the
desired shape straight away when doing the first side.
• During the tightening process, you can adjust the knot body weave in three differ-
ent ways to achieve the particular design you want.
