So, three ways to go . . .

1: Straight up the A38 through Buckfastleigh to visit Buckfast Abbey and/or take a ride on the
South Devon Valley Railway, the main attraction at the railway (for me anyway) is that you can
actually drive one of the steam locos.

See below for navigation notes . . .

2: Across the wild uplands of Dartmoor National Park on the B3212

        Route 5 on the map

See below for navigation notes . . .

3: Get the best of both worlds by going to Buckfastleigh on the A39 then taking the A382 to
        Princetown on the Dartmoor road.

National Park Visitor Centre, Princetown. The old Duchy Hotel is the home to the main Dartmoor
National Park Visitor centre. With wide ranging and interactive exhibitions on cultural heritage
and the natural environment you can discover what makes Dartmoor so special and delve in to the
        thousands of years of history.

The former hotel’s ballroom also has Conan Doyle’s ‘study’. A hotel guest, Conan Doyle, was
inspired by his surroundings and subsequently wrote some of ‘Hound of the Baskervilles’ whilst
staying here. As well as having the opportunity to dress up as Sherlock or Dr Watson, you can
also have your photo taken in the guise of other famous Princetown residents, the inmates of
        Dartmoor Prison!
