Expert navigator checkpoint: As you make that l. turn The Filling Station cafe is on your l. As
you proceed along Dumbarton Rd you’ll pass the church on the r. and then a statue of Robbie
        Burns on the right.

0.2 mi Immediately at the end of the park, just past Burns’ statue, take a sharp r. turn on to Corn
        Exchange Rd.

Keep turning to the l. on to Spittal St. Follow it on to St John St and Mar Pl.

0.4 mi 56.1229, -3.9459 At the end of Mar Pl, bear l. at the Y i/s and climb the approach road to
        the Stirling Castle carpark.

        Stirling to Comrie

You can take the M9 / A9 / A833 / B827 road if you want to do it in a hurry. But I prefer a more
attractive, if slightly slower way, on the B8033 and B827. It still takes the M9 / A9 out of town, but
after that you see the landscape gradually change into the classic Highlands landforms and
        colours.

To leave the castle make your way downhill – you don’t have any choice, it’s the only way out
        – following the line of least resistance (i.e. don’t make any radical turns) going back the way you
        came in.

At the traffic lights turn right s/p “All routes”.

Then just keep following signs that say “Main Routes” or “All routes”. You’ll also see yellow and
black signs that say “Stirling Bridge” or the “M9”, so also follow signs that say “Perth M9” .

You will go through a r/bout just short of the M9 and pass over the M9

        1.8 mi 56.1352, -3.9725 At the next r/bout, Craigforth Roundabout, take the 1st exit s/p “M9” and
        merge on to the M9.

Expert navigator checkpoint: After settling on to the M9 you will pass over the River Forth.

        2.9 mi 56.1707, -3.9712 At the r/bout take the 2nd exit on to the A9 s/p “Perth A9”.

        6.7 mi 56.2398, -3.8911 Leave the A9 on to the A822 s/p “Greenloaning / Braco / Muthill / Comrie
/ A822” and a little later “Perthshire Tourist Route to Pitlochry”.

        Side trip to Gleneagles

Here’s one for the golf enthusiasts. If, instead of turning l. on to the A822, you continue for a
further 5.8 miles, at GPS 56.2685, -3.7409, you can turn l. on to the A823 to visit Gleneagles the
famous Scottish golf course. GPS 56.2844, -3.7513.

To continue on towards Crieff remain on this road, the A823, back to rejoin the A822.

         Side trip to Tullibardine Distillery

4.2 mi 56.2561, -3.7888 Continue on the A9 to Blackford. Leave the A9 on to Moray St, the
B8081. The distillery is on the left just after leaving the A9. You can’t miss it. It’s well signposted.

        Afterwards, return to the A822.
