…Standing in the Hall of Fame!

                        Bill Bates, Construction Expert
How long have you been in the insurance industry?
                           Since 1985, Yes I started when I was 5 
How many years have you been with HUB?
I believe HUB purchased (Bush cotton & Scott), in 2004 or 2005.
Why did you get involved in insurance?
I was originally a math major and was going to be an actuary. I decided during an
interview process that it wasn’t for me. However, since I was interviewing with
insurance companies, I decided I wanted to switch to underwriting. My first job was
with Chubb as an underwriting trainee as an inland marine underwriter.
What made you get into the construction sector?
I liked working with contractors as a general rule. Because of the nature of their
business, you were able to work very closely with them to provide solutions versus
working with clients that view insurance as a commodity.
Can you please explain what your focus is?
0% of what I do is construction. It’s a combination of general contractors and
subcontractors, general builders, civil contractors, and contractors that do insurance
repair/construction defect repair work, mechanical contractors,
           and high-end homebuilders, etc.
Have you noticed a difference being a part of the practice? Has it
           helped you at all?
I am not doing much active selling, but in terms of my job, it has
helped. I have involved Kirk in a couple of jobs, and he has been
great to bounce ideas off of. I’ve done some limited marketing, as
well. I also have done work together with the other team members
and have shared stories with people who work with similar clients
           as I always learn something.
