Construction – Internal Trainings

The Construction Practice is holding two back-to-back full-day pieces of training in late
February/early March in our Kansas City office. Construction Professional Liability and
Subcontract Default Insurance (SDI). These two topics are specific specialty lines within the
construction industry. “We have a unique competitive advantage around this, so we want to
enhance our internal capabilities around this.”
The first session will be around professional liability in construction. It will be a deep dive
through the internal network building - geared towards non-professional liability
professionals, in which the training will give them a basic-to advanced level understanding of
this product line. After this training, attendees will go back to the field and speak to this line
as the “regional experts” on the matter. Kirk and the team want to make them as
independent as possible. Some of our working Construction Carriers will lead this training.
The second session focuses on Subcontract Default Insurance (SDI). Again, the attendees will
become their HUBs “regional experts.” This training is geared towards individuals
who are not currently involved in SDI and also surety experts. The idea is to cross-
train the two. The surety folk will also help train on the underlying issues to talk to
the GC about proper pre-quals and what to look at high-level. One of our
construction carriers and one accounting-like firm will lead the training.

These pieces of training will be the first of many.
