Although there are slight similarities with descriptive
texts, descriptive reports focus more on describing the
general characteristics of an object, place or event. The
objects reported can be animals, plants, tourist attractions, or
cultural events. Examples: blue while, Borobudur temple.
d. Analytical Report
Analytical reports not only convey information, but also
analyze data and present conclusions from the results of the
analysis. For example: research on Korean makeup trends in
Indonesia.
e. Progress Report
Progress reports report the development or progress of an
activity or project. This report is usually made periodically
to monitor the achievement of targets and identify potential
problems that need to be addressed. Progress reports are
often needed in the world of work, research, or
infrastructure development. For example: Progress related
to the development of IKN (the capital of the Nusantara).
C. Writing steps and the examples of the report text.
1. Writing steps report text
In the previous chapter we discussed the concept and
structure of text reports. At first glance, report text is similar to
descriptive text that explains or describes an object. However,
there is a difference between report text and descriptive text,
namely in terms of the objects described in the text. If descriptive
text explains an object specifically, on the other hand, report text
explains an object in general. For example, an author wants to
discuss tigers. If the text is descriptive, it can discuss specific
tigers such as Sumatran tigers, Javanese tigers, and others.
Meanwhile, in the report text the idea discussed could be Tigers
in general. Thus, the procedure for writing report text will not
be much different from other texts, especially descriptive texts.
There are several steps in writing report text, namely as
follows:
