54% Active follow-ups (a decrease of 25% from last reporting period attributed to a lower
incursion rate and a shift in the incursion time of day, relating to detection time)
21% No follow-ups conducted. Of this, 85% were due to the exit already being located as teams
and resources could then be deployed to more prioritised actions. As per the previous
reporting period zero instances of “not recorded” for result of follow-ups were recorded. This
means that reporting efficiency has been maintained.
2095 Hrs Spent on 258 field based security observation posts, waylays and
ambushes (84% of these were dedicated to waylay or ambush, >1% to
human wildlife conflict). This represents a 52% decrease from last year,
given the lowered incursion pressure this report period.
399 Hrs Accurately recorded dedicated to field based rhino monitoring
(equivalent of 15% of OP efforts). This represents a 280% increase in
Rhino observation effort compared to last report period. This can be
attributed to an increased length of time Rhino spent within Karingani
and an increased availability of field rangers due to a lower incursion
pressure.
