O n The Run
1
(chapter )
I wake up to the sound of my parents yelling at each other with their booming voices
and the sound of rain sprinkling down on my window. Soon the floor slowly starts to
creak. Footstep by footstep I start to shiver as my parents yelling starts to cease. I
hide under my thin sheets as my parents check to see if I'm awake. All of a sudden
thought comes to mind. A thought of me running away. As my parents carefully close
the door I slowly and silently pick myself up off my cold, hard bed and grab my old,
dirty bag. I pack some clothes, enough to keep me warm and protected, I grab my
hidden stash of food, although half of it has expired and I bring a blanket and umbrella
just for the cold, windy and rainy nights. I finished packing. I start to climb out of my
cold, wet window and pull out my red umbrella. I start to walk out on the small streets.
In my dull town you never normally see 11-year-old kids in tight jeans, blue shirts, black
jackets, and worn-out converses but I planned to go out in the deep, dark woods for
the night and camp till next morning. I turn around to see my parents arguing as they
walk out the black painted door. I start to run, carefully.
There is an abandoned forest nearby that people don't often go to, which is the
perfect place. I reach the forest and there is nobody in sight. I dig myself a little hole
to sit and sleep in. I also brought some old books to keep me entertained and to keep
my mind off some dreadful days. The light blue sky slowly gets darker and darker and
the stars slowly become visible. My eyes start to shut down as the wind starts to
brush against my face. Everything slowly turns to black and my body starts to shut
down on the cold, dirty ground. Then I wake up to a siren, I start to pack my bag and
sneakily run away. I run into this big clump of green leaves as the words “COME OUT
JANE I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE!!” come ringing in my ear. I quickly glance at the
mysterious man. All I saw was a blue and black uniform. I try to run further but the
man starts to chase after me. I try to think and move quickly before he catches up to
me. All of a sudden I trip and fall into a deeply hidden ditch. I try to keep my mouth
shut as I pick up my pain-filled knees. “YOU BETTER WATCH OUT KID I WILL FIND YOU.”
My heart starts pounding as I start to panic…
