Rangers have gone back to the top of the SWPL 1 table following their 5-0 victory against
Dundee Utd on Sunday. Colette Cavanagh and Kayla McCoy both scored inside the opening
six minutes as Rangers got off to a flying start and Cavanagh netted a second ahead of half time.
Rachel McLauchlan made it four after the restart and Lisa Martinez rounded off the scoring ten
minutes later.
Two of the top three met each other for the first time this season and it was Glasgow
City who were to emerge as 2-1 winners over Celtic. The first half was goalless but Lauren
Davidson became the first player to score past the Hoops in the league this season when she
netted a penalty early in the second half, with Celtic battling back to equalise through Shen
Menglu. A draw was looking the likeliest outcome but as the game entered injury time, City
captain Hayley Lauder slotted in the winning goal to keep her team level with Rangers and
inflict a first defeat on Celtic.
Hearts registered their fifth win of the season to keep themselves in fourth, 1-0 against
Motherwell. It has been a great week for Hearts midfielder Rebecca McAllister who scored
the only goal of the game to mark her first senior call up for Scotland.
The points were shared at Hibernian where the home side battled out a goalless draw
with Partick Thistle, which means that the sides now occupy fifth and sixth place
respectively.
Hamilton Academical have gone level on points with Spartans after winning their
meeting 2-1. Things had been looking good for Spartans as Sarah Clelland sent them ahead
midway through the first half but Morgan Hay equalised from the penalty spot just before half
time and Josephine Giard gave the Accies their third win of the season when she scored midway
through the second half.
Aberdeen attracted a crowd of 1,652 to their game against Glasgow Women and were
rewarded with their first league win of the SWPL 1 P W D L F A Pts GD
season, 2-0 against Glasgow Women.
