Boco set sights on another surprise

AEK Boco hit the headlines in last season’s Vitality
Women’s FA Cup when they beat FAWNL side Larkhall
Athletic 4-3 in the Third Round Qualifying, and they
are setting their sights on causing another upset this
time around when they host AFC St Austell on Sunday.
Manager Abi Nicholas was in charge for that
surprise win over Larkhall and she told Women’s
Soccer Scene that she is confident that the cup will once
again bring the best out of her side.
“There is nothing quite like FA Cup football and
the atmosphere it brings, especially during a home tie,”
she said. “We have a rich history in the competition
with victories at home against Shanklin back in 2015
and most recently Paulton Rovers and Larkhall Ladies
in 2020 - all three games bringing in the biggest
attendances we have ever seen at a AEK Boco Ladies FC fixture and we are excited to
potentially make this fixture a memerable occasion as well.
“We have a young, talented and ambitious squad this season with bags of potential
and I know they will be right up for the challenge ahead. The players have put in a lot of hard
work on and off the training field and are more than ready for a tough encounter.
“Fifteen out of the 21 players available for selection have represented AEK Boco at
youth level, a real life club success story in itself and is testament to the girls’ section at the
club. They are all buzzing at the chance to put in a good performance against high flying
Premier Division team AFC St Austell.
           Boco winger Sasha Ferris added: “We return to the FA Cup action again and as always;
we are as excited as ever for the challenge ahead. It’s going to be a competitive game, but
not something we will shy away from.
“Our facilities are new and improved, which will make the occasion all the more
special for the team and the club as a whole. We hope to have quite the atmosphere.
“Our ability as a squad and across the field speaks for itself and we are relishing the
opportunity to show what we can do this weekend.”
