The York City Ladies Development team, in their first season were crowned North Riding
Women's Premier League champions.
Just one loss all season in a tight encounter away at fellow promotion chasers
Middlesbrough Development was the only blemish on an otherwise impressive return. The
1-0 loss ended a seven-game winning streak.
The season opened up well for York, with a 7-0 victory over Huntington Rovers in their
first match and in those opening seven wins, four of them saw them hit double figures.
After their defeat, the Minsterbelles Devs then went on to win their remaining fourteen
games, including a massive top of the table clash with Middlesbrough Development where
they got revenge, winning 3-0. Many of the results saw the Devs win heavily with 21-0, 19-0
and 13-0 wins some of the results. They secured the title in their penultimate game when
they beat Richmond Town 6-1 and they ended up top of the table by a margin of five points.
York City Development are managed by Andy Hardey, with Faye Singleton as captain.
Their end of season playing record is an impressive one, with seventeen wins in their
eighteen matches, with 182 goals scored and only conceding seven times. Ruby Watt
finished as the team’s leading scorer with 37 goals to her name whilst Olivia Sellars and
Elisabeth McLaughlin scored 36 and 34 times respectively, and Rosie Bell contributed a
further 28 goals.
The development team had a number of players feature from the club’s female player
pathway programme, seven players within their RTC (Regional Talent Centre) played a
part in the successes.
