Manchester Utd came through another test as a late winner earned
them a 2-1 success at Reading FC Women and extended their lead to
three points at the top of the Barclays FA WSL.
Casey Stoney’s side took the lead just after the half hour when
Leah Galton scored after a driving run down the left but Reading were
back on terms early in the second half, Mary Earps saving from Jessica
Fishlock before the rebound back back into the net off Millie Turner.
United were not to be denied though and with seven minutes remaining,
Hayley Ladd headed in a corner from close range for the winning goal.
Chelsea now occupy second place following their 1-0 victory away to Brighton
& Hove Albion. The Seagulls acquitted themselves well on the day but the decisive
moment cane on 21 minutes, when Sam Kerr headed in the game’s only goal from a Pernille
Harder cross.

gasp goal to beat Arsenal 2-1 and put a dent in the Gunners’ title ambitions. Arsenal got off
to a great start when Vivianne Miedema drilled home from the edge of the area after three
minutes but on the half hour, City drew level as Sam Mewis headed in from a Chloe Kelly
corner. The game remained in the balance until going into injury time, when Caroline Weir
secured victory for City as she planted a left foot shot in the corner from just outside the box.
