A goal in each half earned Leicester City a 2-0 victory away to
Charlton Athletic, which keeps them one point ahead at the top of
the FA Women’s Championship.
Leading scorer Natasha Flint fired the Foxes in front shortly
before half time and Remi Allen sealed a fourth straight victory when she headed in the
second, twelve minutes from time.
Durham Women stay on Leicester’s heels after beating Coventry Utd 4-3,
but the scoreline does not tell the full story of the game. Although Beth Hepple scored
early on for the Wildcats, Beth Merrick then hit a first half hat-trick to put Coventry in
a commanding position at the break. However in the second half, Emily Roberts pulled
a goal back and Sarah Robson levelled the scores, before Roberts scored her second
with fifteen minutes remaining to give Durham what had looked to be an unlikely
victory.
Liverpool are up into third place as they also won on the road, 1-0 at London
City Lionesses. The only goal of the game came just after the half hour mark,
Meikayla Moore scoring from close range following an Amy Rodgers corner.
Sheffield Utd were another team to stage a comeback from a two-goal deficit,
this time to earn themselves a point in a 3-3 draw with Blackburn Rovers, who
stretched their unbeaten run to five matches. Maria Edwards opened the scoring for
Blackburn with just 30 seconds on the clock and Saffron Jordan quickly added a
second. Katie Wilkinson pulled one back for United from the penalty spot and after
Jade Richards had netted a third for Rovers,
Wilkinson scored a second penalty just before Charlton Athletic 0
