Cheltenham Town are acquitting themselves very well
in their first season in the FAWNL Southern Premier
Division after winning the Division One South West
title last year, and on Sunday they produced one of the
best results in the club’s history when beating league
       leaders Oxford United 2-1.
Young defender Kelcie Fallon has impressed since
stepping into the first team and she told us that the
team demonstrated its potential in beating Oxford on
Sunday, and that the team is hitting its best form after
       adjusting to a higher level:
WSS: Well done on a great win on Sunday,
was that the best one you have achieved so far
       this season?
KF: Thank you! I think every game we win is big,
being promoted last year and sitting in mid-table is an achievement in itself - but to beat top
of the league shows how good this team is and can be.
WSS: You got yourselves two goals up at half time, were there any nerves after
       Oxford pulled one back?
KF: It’s never nice to concede but having the comfort of two goals allowed us to stay to our
game plan. We trusted each other, controlled it and had our bodies on the line until the final
       whistle.
WSS: The win over Oxford leaves you well placed in the top half, just one point
behind fourth place. Are you doing better than you anticipated at the start of
       the season?
KF: We always had high hopes for this season, this squad has incredible talent and work
ethic so I wouldn’t say it’s a surprise, but it definitely sets our standards in the league.
WSS: A lot of changes were made to the squad during the summer, do you feel
the team is producing its best form now?
KF: Definitely, as I said, this squad is incredibly talented. The changes in the squad just
meant that we had to work hard to gel and understand each other, but I think that is evident
       now through our performances.
WSS: This week you face another big test against Watford, how much are you
looking forward to taking them on?
KF: Our confidence is high and our standards have been set. We will treat it like every other
game and prepare in the right ways - but we are looking forward to the game as always.
WSS: What is now the target for the team for the rest of the season?
KF: We set our targets in pre-season and we will continue to work hard to achieve them. We
are in a good place at the minute, so we will take it game by game and finish as high as
       possible.
WSS: You have adapted so well to the higher level after promotion last year, do
you feel this is a platform for the team to push on and aim higher in the future?
KF: Without a doubt, this team has such potential to achieve higher levels and that is what
we will push for. I think this season has allowed us to show everyone what Cheltenham are
sbout and we will continue to aim higher and reach our full potential.
       Our thanks to Kelcie!
