Sunderland West End are currently on a great
winning run in league matches, and on Sunday
they will have a chance to test themselves against
FA Women’s National League opposition in the
       Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
Sunderland West End currently play in the
Northern Division of the North East Regional
Women’s League and were massively disappointed
last season after being denied promotion due to
the season coming to an abrupt end, despite
winning all 13 of their 13 league games.
The team have so far started the 2020-21
season very well, winning the first two league
games and scoring 16 goals in the process, so the
ladies were buzzing after seeing the Second Round Qualifying draw for the FA Cup, giving
them a tough game away to Bradford City.
Although Bradford currently play two leagues above West End with some great
players, and they know it is going to be their toughest test in a competitive environment
for a number of years, the whole squad is massively excited for the test, with everyone
dreaming of ‘that’ classic underdog upset.
West End captain Samantha Minniss said: “We know this is going to be our
toughest challenge yet, but this is the furthest we’ve ever made it in the FA Cup, so we are
just going to enjoy the experience of the game and hope for an upset.”

Warrington Wolves have the chance to pit their wits against Durham Cestria of the FA
Women’s National League this Sunday, and they are looking forward to the occasion. The
North West League side booked their place in the Second Round Qualifying with a 2-1
victory at Farsley Celtic Juniors and manager Paul McKeirnon told Women’s Soccer Scene
that they will not be daunted by the task ahead.
"We've had two good results in the previous rounds,” he said. “We know it's going
to be a tough game against Durham Cestria, who are two divisions above, but one that me
and the team are looking forward to.
“As a club, we want to emulate the
good run we had back in 2016 and
hopefully be in the hat for the next
       round."
            Helen Dobson, the club captain,
added: "We have had a great run so far
and are very excited about this Sunday. I
think being the underdog will suit us as
there is no pressure to win.
“Durham are a great team so we
know we will have to be on top of our
game, but we will fully prepare in the
week and hope to take Warrington
through to the next round of the FA Cup."
                                             Helen Dobson (Stephen Gaunt/Touchlinepics.com).
