Solihull Moors have had a good season to date in FAWNL
Division One Midlands and on Sunday, they reached the
Third Round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup for the first
time in their history with a 5-1 victory against Coventry
       Sphinx.
Moors defender and captain Zoe Creaney was full of
praise for her team’s second half display against
opponents who have been in fine form, as well as looking
forward to facing Fylde in the next round and “exciting
       times” at the club:
WSS: Well done on a good win on Sunday, was
that a 'professional' performance by the team on
       the day?
ZC: Thank you - overall we got what we needed from the
game and we are through to the next round. We did not
have the best start to the game and Coventry Sphinx came out strong and put us under
pressure. The professionalism of the team showed in the second half performance and it
was a big step up for us. The girls came out fighting, to score five goals overall was a huge
positive and there were some very good passages of play.
WSS: When you are playing away to a team from a lower level which has been
playing well, are games like that mainly about avoiding complacency
       beforehand?
ZC: Sphinx have a lot of players that played Tier 4 football last season so we knew we
couldn’t be complacent and underestimate them. We wanted to go out and make a
statement again to everyone that we deserve to be where we are. We pushed right through
until the end of the game knowing that we couldn’t stop until the final whistle had gone.
WSS: Five different players got on the scoresheet and the goals in general have
been shared about this season, is this something which gives the team extra
       confidence?
ZC: It does give us extra confidence knowing that we do not need to rely on one or two
players to put the ball in the back of the net. 3 of the 5 goals came from the defensive line
which was great to see, it gives everyone the confidence to go for goal and trust that we can
       all contribute to the scoreline.
WSS: The draw for the Third Round has handed you a home tie against Fylde
Women, from the level above. What are your thoughts on that game?
ZC: We know that this is a very challenging game for us, they are the league above and
around mid-table. We are all excited for the game going in as the under dogs, we can go out
and enjoy the experience of the Third Round knowing we’ve already achieved so much for
the club with the potential of progressing further. We will give it everything we have on the
day, you never know what can happen in the FA Cup.
WSS: No game this coming Sunday and you haven't actually played a league
match since mid-October, has that been frustrating?
ZC: The league break is slightly frustrating as we had such a positive start, however we
have loved the cup games and they are exciting games to be part of. Every week we prepare
just like the previous week whether it is league, cup or a free weekend. We are looking
forward to getting back to playing the league in the new year.
